WOMEN & WEIGHTS PROGRAM

Instruction & Base Building for Young Women

Program Details

  • 5, 1-hour sessions with a focus on a different individual weight lifting technique each week.

    • Back squats, front squats, dead lifts, hang cleans, and lunges.

  • 2-to-1 ratio students to instructor. It is important to teach in pairs. This will allow you to not only learn how to properly perform the movements but also learn how to spot a partner, help identify areas of form breakdown, and actually teach the movements. This will empower you to take these new skills into your lives going forward. Knowledge is power!

  • Experienced, passionate, and skilled physical therapist teaching the classes; Dr. Carolyn Latham, PT.

  • Price: $450

Why Weights?

From the journal of American Academy of Pediatrics,

“...resistance training is applicable to virtually all children and adolescents for contributions to muscular fitness, resistance to injury, and improved performance…”

Research shows great benefits of weight training for any age; the science is there! Beyond the science, I believe that teaching young women how to incorporate the skill of weight lifting into their weekly workouts is empowering and builds confidence on top of physical strength. Learning how to safely lift weights and feel confident in the gym is an excellent trait for young women-athletes to have.
